In monitoring the ever-changing situation facing us with Covid-19 and keeping everyone’s health and safety in mind, we have determined to forgo this year’s in-person fashion show event.
HISTORY OF A RUNWAY FOR GIVING
The Morning Star Catholic School (MSC) Auxiliary was created in 1962 by a group of ten very committed women who saw an important need for a fundraising group to help MSC in its efforts to educate children with special needs. Fifty-eight years ago, those ten women, with fundraising goals in mind, held their first Morning Star Catholic School Auxiliary Fashion Show and Luncheon with a $2 ticket cost.
The essential goal of the MSC Auxiliary was to assist in raising the necessary funds to maintain the school and provide needed equipment pertinent to the therapeutic and educational requirements of the children. The presentation of the annual fashion show was, and continues to be, one of our school’s main fundraising efforts.
Hundreds of women have attended the fashion show and luncheon over the years at various locations including: Cherry Plaza, Church Street Station Ballroom, Rosen Shingle Creek Resort, Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort, Dr. Philips Center, Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando, and most recently at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort at Universal Orlando.
For many years’ fashions were provided by Jacobson’s and Jordan Marsh. Recent years have featured fashions from Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Winter Park boutiques including: Tuni, John Craig, Arabella, The Grove, The Collection Bridal and more.
Many very generous sponsors have supported this event over the years including longtime supporters Golden Corral and the Martha Greene Lewis Charitable Fund.
