Staff Member: Leanne Wendrick
Mrs. Wendrick graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. Following graduation, she started her career as an inclusion teacher and small group teacher at Clarkdale Elementary in Austell, GA for six years. Mrs. Wendrick went to Kenya in the summer of 2013 and the Lord showed her that being a special education teacher was her path. Upon returning from Kenya, she felt called to become more involved in her community and started Young Life Capernaum in East Cobb, GA. For four years she was the volunteer leader for over 25 high school students who had disabilities, playing games and speaking about Jesus with them. During this time she also felt called to transition from teaching in the elementary school setting and go back to her high school alma mater and be the MOID teacher. In 2017 she met her now-husband and in 2018 made the move to FL where she taught a high school Autism class in Osceola County and then made the transition to MSC the following year. Also in 2018, she graduated with a Masters in Special Education from Georgia Southern University. In 2019 Mrs. Wendrick got married in Marietta, GA, and went on a honeymoon to Italy! Mrs. Wendrick and her husband (and Great Dane, Bella) welcomed their first child, Carianne, into the world on January 28th, 2021. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and traveling. Mrs. Wendrick feels truly blessed to be teaching at Morning Star and is so thankful for all the love and support she has received from this community over the years.
