Giving Thanks: What a Special Needs School in Orlando is Grateful for this Thanksgiving

At Morning Star Catholic School, we are filled with gratitude as we reflect on the blessings of the year. Thanksgiving is a special time to pause and appreciate the incredible students, families, staff, and community members who make our school one of the leading special needs schools in Orlando.

1. We are thankful for our students.
   
   Every day, we witness the unique gifts of our students, their curiosity, determination, and joy. It is a gift. They point us back to what truly matters, reminding us to find joy in the small moments, to celebrate our differences, and to love well, fully, and without hesitation. They show us the beauty of courage as they face challenges each day, the power of friendship as they support one another, and the countless emotions that make life rich and meaningful. Watching their growth, resilience, and determination fills our hearts with gratitude and inspires us to be better, kinder, and more present in our own lives.

2. We are thankful for our families.
   
   Out of all the special needs schools in Orlando, families chose Morning Star, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Our parents entrust us with their children and partner with us to create meaningful learning experiences every day. Their involvement, encouragement, and support strengthen our programs and make our community more vibrant. We are especially thankful to our PTO and all our parents for the care, dedication, and guidance you provide—and for raising the amazing children who inspire us daily.

3. We are thankful for our staff.
   
   Teaching (or working) at a special needs school is not an easy job, but our teachers tackle it with patience, grace, and determination. We are so happy not just to see our students progress but also the professional and personal development from our staff.
   

4. We are thankful for our partners.
   
   We are thankful for our partners. Our inclusive programs with Bishop Moore Catholic High School and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School are among the most meaningful and impactful initiatives we offer. We think every special needs school in Orlando should have a similar program! Through Best Buddies, Little Buddies, and Unified Sports, our students build friendships that last a lifetime, learn the value of teamwork and empathy, and experience the joy of being part of a larger, supportive community. These partnerships help our students grow socially, emotionally, and spiritually, and they remind us every day of the power of inclusion and connection.
   

5. We are thankful for our donors.
   
   At Morning Star Catholic School, we are deeply grateful for the generosity of our donors. We rely on the help of our supporters to keep tuition affordable, expand our programs, and nurturing environment where every child is seen, supported, and celebrated. Morning Star doesn’t happen without our donors! Thank you for allowing us to welcome so many children through our hallways and helping those students acheive their personal best as children of God for over 60 years!
